Outdoor Recreation Adventure Park

The Outdoor Recreation Adventure Park is your hub for year-round adventure programs, equipment rental, ticket sales, and more! Outdoor Rec (ODR) oversees FamCamp, an RV Storage Lot, as well as seasonal operations of the Olympic Pool and Splash Pad. Additional facilities under the ODR umbrella include Debden and Kimpo Parks, trails, an archery area, and a log cabin.

Outdoor Recreation (ODR) is dedicated to providing exciting activities that take full advantage of the local terrain and weather conditions. We can also provide you with the tools and supplies for your own adventures! Check out our rental campers, bounce houses, utility trailers, and more!

Outdoor Recreation (ODR) offers a wide range of facilities, services, programs including a large equipment rental center offering everything from campers and camping equipment to bounce houses, power tools and much more.

Planning an outdoor event? Consider the ODR Adventure Park. Features include a patio with limited tables and chairs, firepit, and pond located at 1385 S. Andrews St. There is a $50 cleaning deposit during operating hours. After hours has a $50 deposit and a $30 rental fee.

Equipment Rental

Outdoor Recreation Operation Center offers a wide range of recreational equipment for a small service charge to all active-duty military, retired military, reservists, civilian employees, and family members 18 years of age or older. Campers and camping equipment, picnic gear, sporting equipment, outdoor games, bicycles, and other recreational supplies are available for rent. Driving Range

Interested in the driving range? Tokens for the ball machines can be purchased at Outdoor Recreation for $5. Clubs can also be rented for a $10 deposit and $10 payment.

Fishing

Fishing is available on Seymour Johnson AFB for all of our outdoor enthusiasts. A permit is necessary to partake in this leisure sport.

Fishing Permits

Fishers over the age of 16 will need a North Carolina Fishing License which can be found here. Children 15 and under do not need a license as long as they are accompanied by an adult who has one.

Hunting

SJAFB has four large, private, and enclosed hunting areas equipped with elevated tree stands. Game permitted for hunting and harvesting (during appropriate seasons) are whitetail deer, feral hogs, coyote, and turkeys. Hunters may use shotguns, muzzle-loading rifles, muskets, or bows as permitted.

Requirements for hunting on SJAFB:

  • Review the 2023-2024 Hunting Program Brief
  • Complete and pass the 2023 Annual Sportsman’s Test
    • Hunters must score 18 points or higher to pass the 2023 Annual Sportsman’s Test. If a hunter scores less than 18 points, they may select “Edit Response” to retake the test until they receive a passing score.
  • Once you’ve passed the 2023 Annual Sportsman’s Test, bring the following documentation with you to Outdoor Recreation to receive your SJAFB Outdoor Recreation Annual Sportsman Card:
    • DOD ID Card
    • North Carolina Big Game Hunting License
    • Proof of Completion: Hunters Education Training Course (hunteredcourse.com/northcarolina/)
    • Payment Method for $10 Sportsman’s Card Fee

How to sign up for a hunting area:

  • Contact Outdoor Recreation to reserve your hunting area!
  • Reservations can be made up to one week in advance, hunters can reserve each hunting area once per week.
  • The daily reservation fee for each hunting area is $5.
  • You MUST be a SJAFB Outdoor Recreation Annual Sportsman Card holder to reserve a hunting area.

FamCamp

The Seymour Johnson AFB FamCamp is surrounded by heavily forested areas and tucked far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the base to ensure quiet relaxation, but close enough that several key support facilities and parks are within easy walking distance. Open year-round, the facility features 16 concrete parking pads, a gravel overflow area, a dump station, bathhouses, laundry, picnic tables, grills, handicapped accessibility, and area lighting.

RV Storage

Outdoor Recreation manages the RV storage lot on base.

To request a space in the RV Storage lot, please complete and return the RV Storage Registration and Agreement to 4FSS.FSWO.Forms@us.af.mil, along with a copy of your vehicle’s registration, insurance, and proof of address

Pool

The Olympic pool features an awesome water slide, certified lifeguards, a bathhouse, and a concession stand. Lap swim is also available for those 18 and older. Make sure to stop by during open months to make a splash!

Debden Park

Debden Park, located across the street from the Fitness Center, is a venue for larger groups. Although there is a playground, workout structure, splash pad, and volleyball court, these are not included in rental and everyone has access to those. The rental only covers the pavilion. There is a $50 cleaning deposit.

Kimpo Park

Kimpo Park, located on Lyster Street near the base clinic, is a smaller venue with lots of open space, playground, and basketball court across the street. It has a pavilion with picnic tables. There is a $50 cleaning deposit.

Log Cabin

Warrior Pines is a multipurpose recreational facility, available for hosting special events. The rental fee is $60 per day with a $50 cleaning deposit. The log cabin holds up to 40 people and has couches and chairs, a full-size refrigerator, and a sink inside. There is a pavilion outside with seating.

Compass Cafe

The Compass Cafe is available outside of normal operating hours for your special event. There is a $50 depost and $100 rental fee for 1-4 hours, plus $25 for any additional hours. Tables and chairs are included. No outside food; catering is available from Compass Cafe.
